Grays Harbor detectives still looking for answers a year after reported disappearance of 6-year-old
On December 11, 2022, detectives in Sammamish, Washington are continuing to search for answers regarding the disappearance of Oakley Carlson, who was reported missing a year ago. Notes from Washington 4A and 3A state championship games
Yelm (Wash.) 2024 linebacker Brayden Platt and Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic 2024 defensive lineman A.J. Tanupo were key players in the Tornadoes' state championship win in 2021. Platt was a workhorse back and a stifling run stopper, while Tanupo played with his hair on fire, perfectly fitting the "plays with his hair on fire" mantra. Both players will be key pieces in the 2024 class.
College Football: Stanford QB McKee declares for NFL draft
Sammamish native Caleb Williams was named the unanimous choice as The Associated Press player of the year in the Pac-12. Williams, a quarterback for the University of Southern California, threw for 4,075 yards and 37 touchdowns with four interceptions while completing 66% of his passes. He also ran for 372 yards and 10 more scores. Stanford quarterback Davis McKee completed 62% of his passes for 2,947 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season. Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III was named defensive player of the year and Washington coach Kalen DeBoer earned coach of the year honors.
Seattle man accused of threatening to bring guns to Sammamish High School
Isaiah Foster, a former student of the Bellevue School District, was arrested on December 9, 2020 after threatening to bring guns to Sammamish High School. He was charged with felony harassment and cyber harassment.
The Sammamish Royals routed the Lancers on Thursday, continuing their red-hot streak.
Husky men's basketball team aiming to do the unthinkable: Beat Gonzaga in Spokane
The 18th-ranked Gonzaga men's basketball team has extended their home winning streak to 69 games, the longest active streak among Division I teams. The last team to beat the Zags at the McCarthey Athletic Center was Saint Mary's in 2018. Washington, led by Eastside Catholic's Nolan Hickman, will attempt to end the streak on December 11, 2022.
Potential 2023 Heisman Trophy finalists from Ohio State
On Saturday night, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was a Heisman Trophy finalist for the second year in a row, but USC's Caleb Williams ultimately won the award. The Buckeyes have had five Heisman finalists in the last five years, and J.T. Tuimoloau, a former five-star defensive end out of Sammamish, Washington, is expected to be a key contributor for the Scarlet and Gray in 2023.
Sammamish put on a show in a 72-8 win over Highline in local girls basketball on Dec. 11, 2022. The Lady Totems dominated from start to finish, never letting the Pirates get close. It was a great display of teamwork and skill from Sammamish, who look to continue their winning ways in the coming weeks.

'I love it. It's a lot'; Snoqualmie Pass sees more than a foot of snow over the weekend
It was a snowy weekend at Snoqualmie Pass, with more than a foot of snow falling. Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the snow, including the Taylor family from Puyallup, who stayed overnight to get an early start. Brian Bickel of Sammamish helped a driver who got stuck by fetching a shovel. WSDOT recommends checking road conditions before heading out in the passes.
Thunderbirds battle in 80-77 loss to Washington state-based Crusaders
The Semiahmoo Thunderbirds gave the Eastside Catholic Crusaders from Sammamish, WA all they could handle, but ultimately fell 80-77 in an exhibition game at Langley Events Centre.
LSU Team Advances to National Accounting Competition
Five E. J. Ourso College of Business accounting students from Frisco, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; Metairie, LA; Crowley, LA; and Sammamish, WA will compete in Deloitte’s 2022-2023 Audit Innovation Campus Challenge.
